Education in Aquaculture and Aquatic Biology

Three programmes of study

Diploma in Aquaculture
This diploma is on the first higher education level and is directly connected to the aquaculture industry. The diploma is taught via distance education with some on-site participation at Verið. The study is composed of a number of short courses (2 - 4 weeks) with one course being taught at any one time, and finally a full-term practicum at a fully functioning aquaculture company.

 M.Sc. in Aquatic Biology
The M.Sc. is a research-based study where students work on a
large research project, externally funded, under the supervision of a teacher of the department.

MARBIO The Nordic Master Program in Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bio-resources
As from 2019, Hólar University College, in cooperation with Gothenburg University in Sweden,  Nord University in Bodø in Norway and University of Akureyri, offers a new Nordic Master's Programme in Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources.
