Grant Received for Short Course: "Full Circle – Rethinking Waste in Aquaculture"
We are pleased to announce that the Department of Aquaculture and Fish Biology at Hólar University, in collaboration with Ísponica ehf, has received a 1,140,000 ISK grant from Fræðslusjóður (the Education Fund) to support a new short course called "Full Circle: Rethinking Waste in Aquaculture", set to launch in spring 2026.

This two-day course will explore circular approaches in aquaculture, with a focus on transforming waste streams - such as wastewater, sludge and fish processing by-products - into valuable resources. Through a combination of presentations, hands-on activities and site visits, participants will engage with innovative strategies for improving sustainability and resource efficiency within the aquaculture sector.

The course will take place in both Hólar and Hofsós and is designed to qualify as continuing education. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Approximately 80 participant spots will be available.
